Llangollen is known as the gateway to North
Wales. It
is a spectacular ancient town with historic buildings, steam trains,
horse-drawn canal boats, a huge music festival, castle and abbey. The
white-water River Dee with its waterfalls and leaping salmon, motor
museum, the horseshoe falls adjacent to The Chainbridge Hotel, and
it’s famous bridge all surrounded by spectacular scenery including
the Horseshoe Pass. There are dozens of interesting walks for all ages
and abilities
Llangollen, Llandegla or Ruthin are the ideal
locations to base yourself – this allows you to explore all of North Wales and
it’s spectacular scenery encompassing everything from mountains,
coastal walks, canals, rivers, ancient and industrial history.
